The School of Philosophy Scotland is a branch of the School of Economic Science which was formed in London during the 1930’s. Although the Scottish School itself did not start until the 1970’s, nowadays it is a thriving organisation with regular classes in philosophy being offered in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Ayr, Lanark, Perth and Falkirk.
The School of Philosophy Scotland is a voluntary organisation with charitable status. Our tutors are all students of the school who have studied their subject for years. The school is staffed and cared for entirely on a voluntary basis, without any remuneration, by the school’s own students.
Our introductory courses in philosophy explore many of the great religions and traditions of the world going back, sometimes, many thousands of years. What becomes apparent is a remarkable underlying similarity between these philosophies and it is this unity that provides the starting point for our study journey.
An engaging welcome awaits those with an enquiring mind who wish to explore the teachings and life benefits that the School of Philosophy Scotland has to offer.
